At School, we provide a well-rounded curriculum geared to address all students learning styles. We aim to develop the whole child, not just academically, but mentally and physically as well.
The subject areas and curriculum at our school is aligned with the Florida State Standards as well as National Standards, with a focus on international studies and the arts. At academy we offer the homeschool environment, smaller class sizes, with a hands-on approach to learning. We offer Technology and Media classes to prepare students for our new tech industry. We have sports, such as basketball, cheerleading and soccer, to develop our students natural athletic ability and talents which studies have shown helps students improve academically.
We have adopted a child-centered approach to ensure our students are receiving a well-balanced and quality education. Having a multi-grade class is a benefit for our students to learn on a higher level. Why? This way they can receive foundational support in their current grade and begin learning concepts in their upcoming grade, right in the same classroom.
At Academy we focus on our students’ abilities, not just their age or grade level. Students will receive differentiated instruction and individualized attention, because of our smaller class size.
Our Kindergarten-1st Grade Curriculum is designed to instill a strong foundation in reading and math. This will lay the groundwork for the students to be successful in the 2nd and 3rd Grade.
Our Kindergarten-1st Grade Class will receive instruction in English Language Arts, Science, Math, and social studies taught through a thematic unit. The students are taught at a developmentally appropriate pace through a hands-on approach.

Our 2nd – 3rd Grade Curriculum is aligned with the Florida State Standards. Students receive high quality instruction in English Language Arts, Math, Science, International Studies, Technology and Media, and Music Appreciation.
Our 2nd – 3rd grade classes have developmentally appropriate lessons and activities with a hands-on approach to learning. The students are grouped based on their ability through difference and smaller class size. With highly effective instruction, active learning and critical thinking practices students will be prepared for the upper elementary level.

KINDERGARTEN – 1st GRADE
Inspiring Minds’ Kindergarten -1st Grade Class focuses on providing a well-balanced, developmentally appropriate curriculum that meets individual needs of each child in literacy, mathematics, science, computer science, social studies, technology and the arts.
There is a teacher and an assistant in the kindergarten and 1st grade classroom, who provide a nurturing learning environment that fosters each student’s love of learning. With encouragement and support from their teachers, students become independent thinkers in a challenging academic setting.
The kindergarten and 1st grade curricular programs are enriched by experiences in technology, library, character development, movement, modern language, art and music appreciation.

In our 2nd -3rd grade class we have a state-of-the-art classroom with a fulltime teacher and an assistant who foster a love of earning and thinking in all students. Each 2nd – 3rd grade class will be held by a full-time teacher who will teach all subjects.
ENGLISH LANGUAGE ARTS
Our Reading and Writing Program is structured to teach reading, writing, comprehension as an active student-centered process. Our literacy program is dedicated to foster a lifelong love of learning and reading. We are designed to lay a strong foundation for reading, motivate individual learning and the class.
From Kindergarten through 3rd grade our students will explore computing practices and coding skills. Students will learn how to construct and deconstruct a computer while engaging in a collaborative and cooperative learning environment. Our computer science curriculum focuses on design, engineering, critical thinking and maker activities. All students will practice problem decomposition, transmission and sorting of data, designing and building a digital environment.
Math at our Kindergarten and 1st grade level is designed to foster problem-solving skill. Students are introduced to the concepts of geometry, measurement, time, money, and graphing. Using manipulatives, teachers guide students in gaining an understanding of numeration, patterning, estimation and classification. These concepts lay a strong foundation for the understanding and development of number sense.
In our 2nd and 3rd grade classes, the instructors support the development of critical thinking through real world applications. This method our approach helps students to retell, act out and create pictorial representations of known as well as unknown numbers, supports flexible mathematical thinking, conceptual understanding and the development of algebraic thinking.
The science program encourages our students to ask questions, make predictions and draw conclusions about their surroundings.
By using hands on activities, the science curriculum offers students the opportunity to apply scientific and engineering practices to address local and global challenges. Later, through investigative labs, students transition from teacher-directed inquiry to more independent activities, where they pan a test of a hypothesis, make observations, and collect and interpret data.
Our Kindergarten-1st grade students will explore topics such as family, community, citizenship, historical figures, holidays and various cultures. Students will learn about American History, geography, economics, civic and government with a focus on leadership, tolerance, and respect – all traits of responsible citizens.
The 2nd-3rd grade students social studies curriculum focuses on collaboration and cross-curricular integration activities to encourage students to discuss international studies. Our interdisciplinary approach provides students with the opportunity to make connections between what they are learning in class and the world around them. Our students are given opportunities to ask and investigate authentic questions about historical and current events, so they become independent thinkers and problem solvers. Students will learn about international studies, geography, economics, civics, government with a focus on leadership, tolerance and respect.
Our Arts program enriches our students by exposing them to a wide range of art forms – dance, music and art through a variety of art mediums.
Our Physical Education program develops students’ locomotor skills by focusing on developmentally appropriate individual and team skills. We implement activities that develop teamwork, collaboration, and leadership skills with an emphasis on the ideals of sportsmanship, such as fairness, respect, and the importance of putting forth your best effort.
Standards of Ethnical Conduct

Reporting Misconduct by Instructional personnel and Administrators
All employees and administrators have an obligation to report misconduct by instructional personnel and school administrators which affects the health, safety, or welfare of a student. Examples of misconduct include obscene language, drug and alcohol use, disparaging comments, prejudice or bigotry, sexual innuendo, cheating or testing violations, physical aggression, and accepting or offering favors. Reports of misconduct of employees should be made to JLP Education and Athletics (DBA Inspiring Minds), Owner, Julie Bergeron. Reports of misconduct committed by administrators should be made to JLP Education and Athletics (DBA Inspiring Minds), Owner, Julie Bergeron. Legally sufficient allegations of misconduct by Florida certified educators will be reported to the Office of Professional Practices Services. Policies and procedures for reporting misconduct by instructional personal or school administrators which affects the health, safety, or welfare of a student are posted in the Front Office located at 7127 N Pine Island Road, Tamarac, Florida, 33321.
Reporting Child Abuse, Abandonment or Neglect

Signs of Physical Abuse
The child may have unexplained bruises, welts, cuts, or other injuries, broken bones, or burns. A child experiencing physical abuse may seem withdrawn or depressed, seem afraid go home or may run away, shy away from physical contact, be aggressive, or wear inappropriate cloting to hide injuries.
Sign of Sexual abuse
The child may have torn, stained or bloody underwear, trouble walking or sitting, pain or itching in genital area, or a sexually transmitted disease. A child experiencing sexual abuse may hve unusual knowledge of sex or act seductively, fear a particular person, seem withdrawn or depressed, gain or lose weight suddenly, shy away from physical contact or run away from home.
Sign of Neglect
The child may have unattended medical needs, little or non-supervision at home poor hygiene, or appear underweight. A child experiencing neglect may be frequently tired of hungry, steal food, or appear overly needy for adult attention.
Patterns of Abuse
Serious abuse usually involves a combination of factors. While a single sign may not be significant, a pattern of physical behavioral signs is a serious indicator and should be reported.
Any person, official, or institution participating in good faith in any act authorized or required by law, or reporting in good faith any instance of child abuse, abandonment, or neglect to the department of any law enforcement agency, shall be immune from any civil or criminal liability which might otherwise result by reason of such action.
An employer who discloses information about a former or current employee to a prospective employer of the former or current employee upon request of the prospective employer or of the former or current employee is immune from civil liability for such disclosure or its consequences unless it is shown by clear and convincing evidence that the information disclosed by the former or current employer was knowingly false or violated any civil right of the former or current employee protected under FS Chapter 760.
